Dear Bulma,

My boyfriend has been eyeing other women lately, and he thinks I don’t notice. How can I bring up the subject without making him feel like I’m wanting to control him?

Scared of Confrontation

Girl, please. It’s not controlling to demand common decency. Ask him if he wants to see other people. If the answer is yes, then you do the same. If he says he wants to be with just you, don’t be afraid to call him out when he behaves disrespectfully. Take it from someone who’s been there: these kinds of guys don’t change. But there is someone out there who will have eyes for only you.

So, funny story. Before Vegeta and I got together, he overheard me doing exactly what I told you to do with Yamcha. I told him if he wanted to break up, that was fine, but as long as we were together, if I caught him looking at other women again I’d pluck his eyeballs out and wear them as earrings. Vegeta later confessed that was the moment he fell in love with me (not exactly the phrase he used, but it would take too long to explain the Saiyan equivalent).

Bottom line: stick to your guns, be strong, and demand the respect you deserve. It’ll pay off in the end.

Dear Bulma,

What is the best way to tame a Saiyan’s table manners?

Vegetasei Vegetable

When it comes to Saiyans, you have to pick your battles. Literally. Anything can become a battle with them, and this may not be one you need to fight. Less-than-stellar table manners come with the territory, I’m afraid. But if you do need to address it, remember that Saiyans respond best to positive reinforcement. Make your Saiyan a winner, and he’ll jump through hoops like your own personal circus poodle.

For instance, I once got Vegeta to eat slower in public by remarking on how much more refined his manners were than Goku’s. (Which, honestly, wasn’t by much.) Lo and behold, he miraculously started being even more conscious of his table manners. Then I made sure to let him know how impressed I was by that. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

That’s all for now! Use the form below to submit your own burning question.

Until next time,

XoXo Bulma
