This fic is a light and fun submission for a Smutfest. I am such a fan of fics that answer the question, What if Bulma got her perfect boyfriend wish granted, and this one does not disappoint.
A cardinal sin of mine is broken in this fic, as it employs the use of insta-love. Bulma is whisked away and Vegeta basically doesn’t ask or care why she is there, but because we need sexy times to happen (cause it is a Smutfest fic) insta-love.
I really wish EmmaeKay had written this not for Smutfest, cause I am in love with the ideas in this world, the sequel is light years better than Keiyaku. This is NOT a bad fic, at all, but I think because of the constraints of the event, I feel like character development and plot is put on the back burner in favor of lemon. In many places the addition of a smut scene really damaged the flow (for me).
The plot itself is so simple, but with the word count of each chapter and the amount of stuff that happens within the story, it just seems so rushed. I wish I could have had more time to see how these characters developed these relationships. What did Vegeta do to train Bulma? What was her and Beri’s relationship like? And I’m in love with the way the King and Queen is portrayed in this fic.
I know it sounds like I am bashing on this story, cause there are several BIG parts of it that I have issues with. But I think the reason I am so critical with it is how much fun I have reading it. I became invested in this AU and the characters so quick. The world she has built here is interesting. I like her OC’s. The King and Queen are seemingly a real couple… Hell, Queen Pea almost seems to have more say than King Vegeta in a lot of things. The plot itself and the ideas are so cool. The fact that a pregnant woman can just demand something of Saiyan men and they will just do it? Shit, I would have totally abused the hell out of that power. And I think the thoughts of those missed interactions make me the saddest.
It’s really well written, with great ideas and its fun. It’s an easy read clocking in around 19,000 words. It has some sort of smut each chapter, and they are a good time. But really you wanna read this fic for the sequel. Kotonari is, in my honest opinion, a better story overall. Both are solid fics, but really read Keiyaku to get the background needed to understand Kotonari better.
If you are looking for a light and easy read, with some frosty lemonade and the promise of a solid sequel this fic is a good bet for you.
